Book Week took place in St. Aidan’s N.S. from Mon.23rd to Fri. 27th November. This is an annual event and helps to further promote an interest in and love of reading.

On Friday we had Character Day – when everybody dressed as a character from a book.
Various activities took place during Book Week such as Storytime with visiting story tellers, Buddy Reading ( Junior and Senior Classes), a Table Quiz, D.E.A.R. Time (Drop Everything and Read) , Drama Workshops, a visiting author and Book Club activities.
On Tuesday drama teacher Maureen Higgins did a Drama Workshop with pupils from 1st to 6th Classes. We really enjoyed hearing about her life in Rhodesia where she lived for many years.
On Wednesday, author Rod Smyth spoke about his work, read stories and played games with the children

Character Day Assembly
A competition was held in each class and all illustrations, book reports and writing were displayed in the school hall. Prizes were sponsored by the Parents Association.
