Since September 2010 St.Aidan’s N.S. has been working towards obtaining our third green flag. This green flag is for water conservation.
- All classes learned about the Water Cycle.
- We installed Hippo bags in the toilet cisterns to help conserve water. By using these bags we have managed to save over 100 litres of water a day. This adds up to a whopping 164,000 litres of water saved a year!!
- Sixth Class pupils conducted various water-saving experiments.
- They then produced graphs of the results.
- Take a look at their findings!
- A water butt was installed to gather rain water.
- This is used during school activities...
- ...eg art class and watering vegetable garden and flower boxes.
- The theme of our float in the St. Patrick's Day parade was St. Aidan's Wiz Kids-we count every drop!
- We were delighted to win the overall prize in the parade.
