On Friday 16th June 2017 the whole school community assembled to celebrate the retirement and Golden Jubilee of Fr Paddy Kilcoyne, Chairman of The Board of Management and the retirement of Kathleen Walsh SNA.
Fr. Paddy and Kathleen along with family and friends were escorted in the school avenue by Banna Cheoil Scoil Aodáin and majorettes. We all then proceeded to the school hall.
Guests then took their seats and Fr. Paddy and Kathleen entered the school hall to the sound of ‘Congratulations’
Mrs Cunnane, Principal, welcomed all our visitors. Guests included Fr. Paddy’s two sisters Maura and Anne, Kathleen’s husband Michael, daughter Kathy and son Noel, past and present members of the Board of Management, members of the Parents Association and some former teaching staff.
Junior and Senior Infants then performed The Retirement Song.
Next we all enjoyed a dance item from 3rd and 4th Class.
First, Second and Third Classes sang You’ve Gotta Friend in Me .
Della Macken, Deputy Principal spoke about Kathleen contribution to school life over the past 17 years as an SNA.
Two pupils from 6th Class presented Kathleen with a card on behalf of all pupils and Mattie, SNA presented her with a gift from all the staff.
Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Classes recited A Retirement Rap
Principal, Mrs Cunnane, congratulated Fr. Paddy on his Golden Jubilee and paid a glowing tribute to his work as Chairman of The Board of Management over the past 18 years.
Pupils from 5th Class presented Fr. Paddy with a card on behalf of the school
and a gift voucher on behalf of the school staff.
Presentations by Maria Langan, on behalf of the Parents Association, then followed.

Fr. Paddy and Kathleen then spoke and thanked everyone.
Kathleen and Fr. Paddy we all wish you a long , healthy and happy retirement.
Refreshments were served after the assembly.
